Laboratory "Theory of Elementary Particles"
About us
Laboratory “Elementary Particle Theory”
The scope of current science research projects in the Laboratory embraces various major trends in modern theoretical and mathematical physics. It is centered around two principal broad range world-wide actively developing research areas:
(a) studies of the quantum structure and geometric nature of the fundamental forces between elementary particles at (ultra-)high energies – mathematical physics, strings and conformal field theories, gravity and cosmology;
(b) particle physics - studies of lepton-hadron interactions, supersymmetry phenomenology.
The research in the Laboratory is executed within the framework of a broad international collaboration with leading international academic centers from around the world.

Participation in nationally funded projects by the Bulgarian National Science Fund:
Grant DO 02-257/2008 - http://theo.inrne.bas.bg/elpart/DO-02-257_index.html
Grant DFNI T02/6 (14.12.2014) - http://theo.inrne.bas.bg/elpart/DFNI_T02-6_index.html
A HUGE SCANDAL of MASS CORRUPTION and FRAUD committed by the former administration of Bulgarian National Science Foundation in the evaluation and grant awarding process during the Call for Fundamental Science and Applied Research Projects in the Principal Priority Areas of National Science Strategy 2012
Principal areas of modern fundamental science were systematically ignored and replaced by pseudo-scientific "research";
Internationally recognized research teams, instrumental in promoting the scientific and intellectual image of Bulgaria, were disqualified without clear motives;
Several non-scientific entities (private corporations and foundations, "non-governmental" "think-tanks" and unions) lacking their own proper science research infrastructure and without any noticeable academic accomplishments were getting plentiful grants which do not serve recognizable scientific merits;
Private enterprises and personalities, well known for their previous mismanagement of science research funds, once again were awarded ample grant money.
- Letter-Petition authored by the Action Committee of the Junior Faculty of the Physics Department of Sofia University addressed to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, to the Education, Science, Children, Youth & Sports Committee of Bulgarian Parliament, to the Minister of Education, Youth and Science, and to the current Director of Bulgarian National Science Foundation demanding complete REVISION of the project grant decisions by the Executive Board of BNSF during the above mentioned Call for projects (in Bulgarian)
- Official Protest Letter by the Scientific Board of the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences addressed to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, to the Minister of Education, Youth and Science, to the acting President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and to the Chairman of the General Assembly of Scientists in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences exposing a series of flagrant violations by the administration of Bulgarian National Science Foundation of the regulations in the current BNSF-charter in rigging the results in the above mentioned Call for projects (in Bulgarian)
- Declaration by the Scientific Board of the Institute of Electronics of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences addressed to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria and to the Education, Science, Children, Youth & Sports Committee of Bulgarian Parliament, demanding an ABROGATION of BNSF's Call for projects 2012 and an immediate resignation of Minister of Education, Youth and Science for systematically conducting incompetent and pro-corruption policies in science research administration (in Bulgarian)
